2004 Rich List is Kids' Stuff
BRW (www.brw.com.au) has just published the Rich 200 list for 2004. Big stars are child care centre kings Eddie Groves (aged 37 and worth $175 million up 67% on last year) and Michael Gordon (aged 40 and worth $132 million as a new entrant to the list). Groves set up ABC Learning Centres, now a listed company, and Gordon set up Peppercorn Management Group.
Total wealth of the Top 200 is $72 billion with an average per person of $358 million. Average age is 62.1, up slightly from last years 62.0. Oldest is Isador Magid aged 90 with $240 million, now in property after making it in import export; youngest are Nicole and Matthew Perrin (30 and 32) of Billabong clothing wear fame with $106 million, now sold out and just investing.
FinDem has added sex and age profiles to the Research Centre for BRW's 2004 list. You will also find the profile for the Forbes World 500 Rich list there. There is an uncanny similarity of profile. The World list has 7% women (Australia 6%) and World average age is 61.8 (Australia 62.1)
