Short Term Visitors 500K
With all the fuss this week over the temporarily banned 'Where the bloody hell are you' Australian government agency's tourism promotion commercials you would think we were starving for short term visitors. Not so according to the latest stats released this week by the ABS (for Feb 2006) showing Short Term Visitor Arrivals approaching 500,000 per month. Visitors from our next of kin (NZ and UK) are 142,400 per month, USA 43,900 per month and Asian traders (Japan, China, Korea, Singapore) 137,400 per month. Compared to 3 years ago, the 'next of kin' are up 22%, Asian traders and Americans up 9%.
