ACADEMICS: Graeme Hugo
Graeme Hugo is professor of the Department of Geographical and Environmental Studies and Director of the National Key Centre in Research and Teaching in Social Applications of Geographical Information Systems at the University of Adelaide. He completed his PhD in demography at the Australian National University in 1975. He is the author of over two hundred books, articles in scholarly journals and chapters in books, as well as a large number of conference papers and reports. In 1987 Professor Hugo was elected a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and has been president of the Australian Population Association and was a member of the National Population Council. He was a member of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population Committee on South-North Migration and two panels of the Australian Research Council.
