Weights in the Australian CPI - June 2005
The quarterly increase in The Australian Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September quarter 2005 was based on new weights and the introduction of Financial Services into a new group for Financial & Insurance Services. The 11 groups of the CPI components and their weights at the index change point of June 2005, are as follows:

ALCOHOL & TABACCO 6.79
CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR 3.92%
HOUSING 19.53%
HOUSEHOLD CONTENTS & SERVICES 9.61%
HEALTH 4.70%
TRANSPORTATION 13.11%
COMMUNICATION 3.32%
RECREATION 11.56%
EDUCATION 2.74%
FINANCIAL & INSURANCE SERVICES 9.31%
