United Nations Day
Today is United Nations Day celebrating the 57th anniversay of formation of UN in 1945. Original members countries numbered 51 including Australia. There are now 191 members, the latest of which to join in 2002 are Switzerland and East Timor (now known as Timor Leste due to its adoption of Portugese as national language).
When the UN formed in 1945, World population was 2.2 billion. It is now 6.25 billion, an increase of 1.84%pa. During this same period, Australia's population increased by 1.71%pa
